The Four Components of Leadership...

For the last two decades, I have worked in the field of leadership development.  When asked the question "What is Leadership?", I have two answers:

  1. My first answer explains how I understand leadership through the four lenses as described below.

  2. My second answer is comprised of two words: "Conscious Choice."  I have presented this concept many times over the last 20 years.  I explain the concept of "conscious choice" using the neuroscience in which I majored in University, the ancient philosophy I reflect on today (and invite you to reflect daily with me--see this page), and the training I have in psychotherapy.  If you are interested in reading more about my model of conscious choice, please see this article.

Berlin
A reflection on a magnificent act of leadership by the people- for some inspiration

Below is Brandenburger Tor, Berlin, where I lived for 1978-1980 in the Cold War. I visited a month after 9 November 1989, when the people of West and East Berlin united to pull down the wall between the two halves of the city. This event became the most majestic date in my lifetime.  When I visited Berlin again in 2016, I went back and forth under this Gate at least a hundred times and couldn't stop crying for the joy of freedom.
