Strategy without operations is a daydream.
Operations without strategy is a nightmare.
Either without talent development is unsustainable.
All without a kind and curious awareness of Self is meaningless

-Katharine McLennan

It would be a rare person who could integrate these four components:

1) The foresight of a Stanford-MBA/Booz-Allen-trained strategist who can spar with you as you attempt to imagine the unimaginable future

2) The pragmatism of a project manager of world-sized events (four years as head of operational planning for the Sydney Olympics 2000);

3) The astute, logical and intuitive judgement to assess the potential and then coach executives and teams across all industries for the last two decades (from both my senior positions within and my experience as executive coach and facilitation outside corporations);

4) And the compassion from lived experience and training to counsel people suffering in all life stages, particularly those facing the dark nights of their soul (alcoholism and other addictions, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, loss of purpose)

The integration of
Executive Psychotherapy, Coaching, and Team Facilitation?

For the last 30 years, I have coached and facilitated executives and their teams by setting goals, providing techniques, and giving feedback on the external expressions of leadership. I see leadership as having four components:
1) Strategy: future proofing, emerging markets & technologies, customer innovation
2) Operations: 90, 180, 360-day plans, accountability, project management
3) Talent: organisation culture, talent acceleration, succession, leadership development
4) Self: executive presence, self awareness, expansion of the concept of reality
Of course, the internal psychological health of an executive affects the strength of an executive's expression of these four components.

It is unethical and dangerous for coaches untrained in psychology to stray into the areas of psychological challenges such as depression, anxiety, or addiction (amongst many others).

Until 2008, I focused on coaching and team facilitation and left the psychotherapeutic interventions to trained professionals in psychotherapy or psychology.

By 2008, I realised that I could no longer coach on effective leadership without integrating it at the same time with mental, spiritual and physical wellness.
In 2008, I thus qualified in psychotherapy and now have accreditation with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).   I have complemented this ongoing study with significant adjustments to lifestyle in my life: body, heart and mind.
Since 2008, I have been working in this integrated way, with not boundaries between coaching and psychotherapy, unless the client states they would prefer one over the other.
We have witnessed anxiety, addiction and suicide exponentially rising both in us as executives but also in our family and friends.
As executives, we seem loathe to admit that we have psychological issues.  We prop ourselves up with more work, sugar, coffee, alcohol, drugs, affairs, divorces and many other distractions.  This provides temporary respite from the pain hiding in our mind, heart and body.
Relying on these distractions to get us through the day, we have become more and more ineffective in our leadership without noticing; more and more detached from our families; and less and less aware of the massive costs to our physical and mental health - and that of our loved ones.
COVID-19 has accelerated these destructive pressures.
While we search for a strategy and a leadership style to provide clarity to our EXECUTIVE TEAM, our people, our customers and our stakeholders, we simultaneously search for clarity across the whole of our life.

With the respectful challenge of your view of reality and the skill of drawing out your own wisdom,

my aim is to assist you in
becoming a leader who inspires your people to succeed and
creating a life well-lived in mind, body and heart.
